Did you really believe that?

#I love it because martha is all ‘you’re such a fucking idiot’ #and she laughs at the master #she laughs at the fucking psycho who has been destroying earth and who kept her family prisoners #she laughs at someone who could kill her any second #she makes him look like a moron #she takes the power away from him and she turns the tables (via iceinherheart-kissonherlips)

YES THIS IS WHY THIS IS MY FAVORITE MARTHA MOMENT

Also, two thoughts (neither of them new, but I never connected them before) just clicked in my head:

The first thing: Martha is in the Doctor’s role in this episode. Not just that she’s the one saving the day, but TO THE MASTER AS WELL. He puts all his energy into capturing her, defeating her, humiliating her, because he doesn’t want to admit he was ever afraid of her. The Doctor’s spent a year being boring and of no interest to him no matter how hard he prods. It’s incredibly telling that by the end of the year, he’s tormenting the Doctor to try and get at Martha through the people she loves, instead tormenting Martha to get at the Doctor. Martha is the Master’s true archenemy in LotTL, at least for the first three-quarters of it.

The second thing: Mind of Evil. The one thing the Master fears most in the universe is the Doctor laughing in his face.

And when Martha takes on the Doctor’s role, what does she do? THIS GIFSET, YOU GUYS.

Walking on to the new TARDIS was like the first day at school. I actually found it quite difficult as I had got so used to the rhythm of acting on the old one, where I used to slide about on the glass floor, but Michael Pickwoad has done a fabulous job. This one is more like a machine.

.

this actually makes me quite sad…because not once in my time watching Doctor Who have I ever really seen the Tardis as a machine.  It’s always been so much more fantastical than that.  So much more alive  I’m not sure I want a Tardis that is more like a machine.  :(

Yeah, this makes me sad, too, but at the same time, I can kind of understand the change. Losing the Ponds kind of broke the Doctor a bit. I can see him wanting to detach, so putting the TARDIS on a setting that makes it seem less alive to him makes perfect sense.

Then again, maybe i’m reading too much into it.

I’m thinking along those same lines, except instead of detaching it is because that setting is comforting in its familiarity. There is a lot of the new interior that is very reminiscent of the old series console rooms, without there being any specific elements that have an emotional association. The new interior is reminiscent of that time, so long ago, when they first stole each other, and it was just a madman and his box against the universe.

The ‘Shut Up And Take My Money’ Doctor Who Link Of The Day: Doctor Who Dalek R/C Watch

Your phone tells you the time, so it’s time for your watch to evolve into something cooler. Why not a Dalek controller? After all, if you’re going to implement your nefarious plan to take over the world, you’re going to need a couple dozen Dalek to exterminate all of your foes in a timely fashion.

This blue LCD watch comes with a remote controlled blue Dalek. Use the buttons on the watch to drive the Dalek around and exterminate tiny things. The Dalek can attach to the watchband or hang from your keychain when not in use, but seriously, this little monster is going to get a lot of use, so you probably won’t need to bother with storing it!

Product Specifications

  • Digital watch with R/C Dalek toy attached
  • Blue Dalek is controlled by the buttons on your watch
  • When not in use, attach Dalek to watch or keychain
  • Officially licensed Doctor Who collectible

“Listen, all you need to know is this: I trust that man to the end of the Universe. And actually, we’ve been.” ~River SongI had never intended to finish this one (mainly because I didn’t want to learn to draw the TARDIS console), but an awesome lady commissioned me to do so, and I am pleasantly surprised by how well it turned out! Mechanical anything is not my strongpoint, and I must have used a dozen refs on that console alone, but it was worth it! Never again, but it was still worth it, hee.Print Shop
