Christina Gonzalez, an activist protesting the NYPD’s stop-and-frisk tactics, was held in contempt of court on Friday, and sentenced to ten days in jail, after she called Judge John H. Wilson a “white racist pig.” In 2006 Judge Wilson penned a children’s book called Hot House Flowers, which was an allegory for illegal immigration that depicted immigrants as dandelions that should be “weeded out.” A man videotaping the exchange was also handcuffed, and had the contents of his camera deleted by court employees.
Tell ‘em. You can erase the footage but not our knowledge.
I’m really curious to know what they wrote down as the “crime” she committed. What fancy legal jargon exists for “she called me on my shit and I got upset so she deserves to go to jail”?
Declared in Contempt of Court for Disruption of Proceedings or some shit like that I bet. Kinda like how disturbing the peace is often used against protesters.
If that law was any good they’d put white guys who go around snarling, kicking trash cans, and dropping the ‘n’ and ‘c’ words in jail more often. Those guys are scary as f*ck but nobody bothers them.
Disturbing the “peace”. The peace of unquestioned white supremacy? :l You go on sleeping well at night, John H. Wilson, the scary lady can’t hurt you anymore.
“Contempt of court” is a very Orwellian charge. It is not a crime to have contempt for a racist oppressive “justice” system.
